New chapter!
Note: this post has been sitting in the "unpublished" queue since 4 June, 2012! Can you believe I actually forgot that I had this blog? 🤦🏾♀️ Anyway, I decided to publish it today because now I'm back at Citi FM and this is a full circle moment. Amazing!!!
So much has happened within the past three months, but most importantly, I got a new gig! Well, it's kind of an old one that has turned into a new one... let me explain.
For about 18 months now, I've been hosting a show on a Ghanaian radio station, 97.3 Citi FM. The show, Classic Citi, is a classical music show sprinkled with tidbits of information about the musical selections that I play, just to give the listening audience a better understanding of what they're hearing. It's fun and very listener-friendly (you probably won't catch me playing much Schoenberg) and is a nice addition to the Sunday roster.
A couple of months ago, my Citi bosses approached me about joining the Breakfast Show team during the week and possibly taking on some news reading duties. A fantastic opportunity to learn more about the media biz! So that's the brief summary of how I now find myself working as co-host of the Citi Breakfast Show with Bernard Avle and sometime newsreader. I have to admit, I love it so far.
It's a huge learning experience for me. My background is in the arts and now I'm learning about broadcast journalism and the power of radio. Being back in the work environment shows me how much I've matured too. Parenthood has taught me a level of patience that I lacked a couple of years ago. Thank God for growth!
I'll probably have a lot to say about work in future blog posts; all part of my life so I can write about it, right? For now, suffice it to say that I'm entering this new chapter with gratitude and gusto!
